Love tacos? This week, there is another day — besides “Taco Tuesday” — to celebrate the humble dish.
Wednesday, Oct. 4 is National Taco Day. It’s the day to celebrate the popular street food. Americans consume more than a whopping 4.5 billion tacos annually.

While tacos are simple corn or flour tortillas, it’s what they are filled with and topped with that makes them special.
There are plenty of variations of what goes into a taco, chicken, meat or seafood, and what it is garnished with, from cilantro and onions to sliced radishes and guacamole.
Whether you prefer hard or soft-shell, Wednesday is the day to order up some tacos or make them at home. Several metro Detroit spots are shelling out some deals on Wednesday and some throughout the month to honor the taco.
Condado Tacos
Along with National Taco Day, metro Detroit Condado Tacos is celebrating tacos throughout October with free tacos. Throughout the month, Condado Tacos app members can get a free taco of choice. Those who download the app this month will also free tacos. Condado Tacos is known for its variety of build-your-own tacos, nachos, salsas and margaritas amid a vibe of colorful wall murals.
A new fall limited-time menu is also offered that includes orange-glazed chicken tacos with an ancho-orange chicken and spicy maple orange glaze. It’s $4 or $3 during happy hour. On the margarita menu for fall is the Harvest Pear Margarita ($12 or $7 during happy hour) made with fresh pear puree and a cinnamon sugar rim. Condado Tacos has seven Michigan locations
